Wow. Now that's a good looking kit. Looks like it should be furniture in your living room. Really like that natural wood look. Nice.

Cool, same one I'm eyeballing. Have you owned any other kits and if so, which ones? I sure wish I could really hear these in person!

Some new pics of the Hybrids in a four piece set up. The drum head I painted and scuffed to try and give it that worn Americana folk art look. Oh well...I need to "scuff" it up a little more.

I love that configuration!

I'm thinking when I get my kit this week (exact same one), that I'll start with something very similar to this configuration and add on from there.

I generally like the smaller set-up, but it certainly doesn't hurt to have a few extra toms lying around!

haha, don't worry, I'll take plenty of pics when it is all setup. Unfortunately, I'm still waiting on my Wuhan New Traditional cymbals to make it complete.

I'm already finding that my space is a little too limited for all of the toms, so I'll probably keep a typical setup with one (possibly two) up, one down.

Just working on getting them nicely tuned. At the moment, my kick isn't quite as snappy as I would prefer. Any suggestions? Do I want my resonant head to be pretty tight? I'm using a torque key to help. I'm still new to drum tuning so it's giving me a lot of practice.

Check this out.. Bob knows his stuff.. Also, you may want to (when cash permits) replace the stock batter heads and cut a port in the resonant (logo) head.

Wow... these vids are exactly what I needed. Any suggestions for replacement heads? I heard the Evans clear E2's are good. Hopefully my cymbals arrive today!!

I had Evans EC2 SST heads on the batter and EC reso side for toms, EMAD 2 for the kick.

The snare I had an Aquarian Hi Energy snare batter.

The stock heads for the toms are pretty decent, the bass drum and snare heads are kinda poopy..

haha I love the technical terminology Laughing

After watching the vid on kick drum tuning, I think it would definitely be a good idea to get the EMAD. I do have a replacement snare head, so I'll probably swap that right away. Luckily, drum heads aren't incredibly expensive.

I also plan on doing a lot of recording, so making a hole in the reso head is definitely a priority. Fun stuff!

Yeah, I only have an 18" crash/ride (wuhan, as well) that will ultimately be on the far side of the kit, so it's not exactly a complete setup. I'm waiting on the kit with 14" hats, a 16" crash and 20" ride. Waiting sucks!

I got the 18" on eBay from "Vintage Logos" (LOVE that cymbal so far), and just happened to come across another seller on eBay who was selling the cymbal pack, brand new.

That Bob Gatzen video on bass drum tuning is great. Last week I put a new Pinstripe on my bass drum and used this same exact video. When I was done I believe it was the best any of my bass drums have ever sounded. This guy knows is stuff.
