So yesterday the band I am in had a gig. The plan was to be at the location at 6:15 pm unload the trailer set up get a sound check then give them a night of Ear spank. So this is where it goes wrong. I live about an hour from the venue. We were to have inclimate weather later in the night. I am at the venue at 5:50. I get a phone call at 6:14 from our bass player the gig has been cancelled. Um everybody was to be here at 6:15 and I am already at the venue ??????????????? Sorry. So in other words the rest of the band no show I am the last to know and I get to drive home another hour. I guess we will see how they do the next gig without a Guitar player when I call them at the last minute and tell them hey I wont be able to make it. Thoughts are very welcome.

Hey schmasty. Didn't Wisconsin get hit with blizzard like conditions like most of the northern Midwest states? I know that if the weather service issued a travelers advisory, I wouldn't be going to the bar that night either. It's irresponsible to hold a gathering if it's known that bad weather is approaching. They could get in trouble if someone gets hurt if they ignore the warning.

all true customdrummer, but no communication between band members is the worst. i agree with both sides...if it were supposed to be very bad outside, i wouldn't risk life and limb to make a night's worth of gig mullah, but i would however make sure that the other members in the band knew about the situation and agree on terms. sorry it went south for ya schmasty, i would definitely speak my mind the next time you get together.

Yeah. No communication is always a problem, and is usually the main reason that bands break up. We always try and have someone volunteer to be in charge of communicating and getting everyone on the same page. Sucks that you had to drive all that way for nothing. But I wouldn't let it screw up the relationship. Take the initiative and get someone to make sure that all the t's are crossed.
